Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian selected Ruth Jensen as the 2012 Woman of the Year for the 33rd Assembly District.

Jensen, the business and political affairs specialist for the United Agribusiness League, has worked for the California Women for Agriculture and American Agri-Women for 25 years, according to a news release.

In 1981, Jensen founded Search II, an agriculture and water resources consulting firm, which took her around the world as she represented various clients, including the United Nations.

Jensen is humbled by the honor and passionate about her work efforts.

“Clean soil, water and air are vital to producing the world’s food supply but it is the farmers and ranchers that work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to bring that food to the table,” Jensen said in an e-mail.
