Vida Fresh Inc., Morro Bay, Calif., has begun offering Tasti-Lee organic tomatoes.

Tasti-Lee is a brand of Bejo Seeds Inc. The tomatoes were developed by the University of Florida Institute of Food & Agricultural Sciences’ Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in Balm.

They are marketed as high-lycopene tomatoes, based on tests that found vine-ripened Tasti-Lee contain up to 50% more lycopene than traditional vine-ripened or tomato-on-the-vine varieties. Lycopene is an antioxidant.

The brand began sporting the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check food certification logo in 2013.
