The Grocery Manufacturers Association has created a website to help consumers choose nutritious foods.

The site,, is the online version of the Facts Up Front nutrition labeling initiative created by the association and the Food Marketing Institute in 2011, according to a news release from the Washington, D.C.-based association.

Facts Up Front takes information from the Nutrition Facts Panel on the back of food and beverage products and displays it in a simple and easy-to-use format on the front of products.

“Facts Up Front empowers consumers to make informed choices. It arms them with critical nutrition information about their favorite products,” Pamela Bailey, the association’s president and chief executive officer, said in the release. “But to make the most of Facts Up Front, Americans need to understand what that information means, and how it relates to their calorie and nutrient needs.”

With the website, Bailey said, the association is providing consumers with the knowledge and tools they need to build a healthful diet.

Features of the website include a nutrition calculator, an interactive label, a nutrition quiz, shopping and meal planning tips and recipes.
