Ag-Mart Produce Inc., which does business as Santa Sweets Inc., has started a sustainability program to improve environmental practices.

Employees Ag-Mart’s six U.S. growing and packing operations meet monthly using Web-based software that connects the program’s 17 members. The purpose is to develop best practices and corporate efficiencies, according to a news release.

One employee is organizing a food drive for the United Food Bank of Plant City, where the company is based. Other programs include recycling at Ag-Mart’s operations and implementation of a plastic mulch recycling program .

Ag-Mart, which is owned by Joseph Procacci, who also owns Procacci Bros. Sales Corp., Philadelphia, grows and ships tomatoes throughout the year from Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New Jersey and from Mexico in Guaymas, Sonora, and through Nogales, Ariz.
