(Sept. 2, 3:38 p.m.) Winning races has become commonplace for the California Giant Cycling Team, sponsored by California Giant Berry Farms, Watsonville.

“We have had a great summer berry and cycling season,” vice president of sales and team director Anthony Gallino said in a news release.

In July, team member Henry Kramer won the age 50-55 National Mountain Bike Championship in Mt. Snow, Vt., and on Aug. 10, James Mattis and Andy Jacques Maynes finished 1-2 at the USA Cycling National Road Race Championships in Irvine, Calif. Teammate Steve Reaney finished fifth, according to the release.

On Aug. 17, Ken Hanson won the U.S. Elite Criterium Championships in Downers Grove, Ill., according to the release.

“The heat is not my best weather for racing,” Hanson said in the release. “But my teammates Patrick Briggs and Steve Reaney were just phenomenal on the last two laps.”
