(July 27) MONTEREY, Calif. — Fresh Vegetable Technology, a co-packer under the Birds Eye Fresh brand has an extensive new line of fresh-cut spuds, including sweet potatoes.

The bags contain potatoes that have been slivered, diced, mashed, quartered and other options.

“We do a lot of potatoes to foodservice, and we saw an excellent opportunity,” said Lyn Hughes, senior marketing manager of fresh produce for Birds Eye Foods Inc., a Rochester, N.Y.-based firm.

On the bill are yukons, russets and reds, which were unveiled July 25 at the Produce Marketing Association’s annual Foodservice Conference and Exposition.

Most of the products are 80% cooked and do not contain preservatives, Hughes said.
