(Dec. 1) Blazer Wilkinson LP, Salinas, Calif., just got a new East Coast distribution center.

Company officials cut the ribbons on the 25,000-square-foot distribution facility on Nov. 11 in Easton, Md., said John Wilkinson, partner.

The company’s East Coast branch is called Blazer Wilkinson Salins LLC.

The facility is completely refrigerated and digitally controlled, he said. The company broke ground in June and hopes to begin running the facility the week of Dec. 4.

For the past four years, Wilkinson said, Blazer Wilkinson has operated a 12,000-square-foot branch in Maryland.

From the Maryland location, Wilkinson said, the company distributes strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. With a fleet of 10 tractor-trailers, Wilkinson said, the company services retailers as far north as Maine and as far south as Georgia.

“We find that in the strawberry and the bushberry industry, consumption is increasing incredibly every year,” Wilkinson said. “We just haven’t been able to meet our needs yet. This will enable us to.”
