(Oct. 12) Norm Gatineau has been hired as sales manager for Booth Ranches LLC, Orange Cove, Calif.

The hiring becomes effective Oct. 16, said Dan Spain, vice president of sales and marketing.

Gatineau had been in sales with Bee Sweet Citrus Inc., Fowler, Calif. He succeeds Doug Trask, who joined the Bakersfield office of Market Gardeners Ltd., as North American manager.

Trask, who had been with Booth Ranches for three years as a consultant and then as sales manager, said he enjoyed working with co-owner and general manager Loren Booth and her staff.

Being able to reduce his daily one-way commute by 90 minutes was a key reason for his decision to join Market Gardeners, Trask said.

A spokesman for Bee Sweet said a successor for Gatineau had not been named.

Booth Ranches recently established its own sales department. DNE California Inc., Visalia, had been marketing the company’s navel and valencia crops for several years.

Booth Ranches has about 6,000 acres of citrus in Fresno, Tulare and Kern counties. The majority of that acreage is navels and valencias.
