(Jan. 23) Tropical fruit and vegetable specialist Brooks Tropicals Inc., Homestead, Fla., has announced promoting its president’s assistant to the director of national sales position.

The grower-shipper and packer said in a news release Jan. 19 that Jose E. Rossignoli had been elevated from his two-year stint as assistant to Brooks president Neal (Pal) Brooks, and would now lead the firm’s sales efforts.

The company said that Rossignoli has been involved in planning its papaya operations in Belize, Central America since he joined the business. Rossignoli also assisted with Brooks’ SlimCado avocado operations in Southern Florida, the firm said.

Brooks said Rossignoli, in his new role, would work with retail and foodservice accounts to achieve higher visibility for Caribbean Sunrise and Caribbean Red papayas.

Rossignoli’s new job will allow Brooks to further integrate papaya production with various sales and merchandising programs, the company said.
