Produce donated by California grower-shippers just before Christmas will go to thousands of families with the help of The Allen Lund Co., which provided the transportation to distribute the food.

An Allen Lund truck visited grower-shippers in the Salinas and Central valleys the week of Dec. 14 and distributed the produce Dec. 19. It’s the fourth consecutive year for the donations, which includes salads, lettuces and other leafy greens, and oranges.

Participating companies included M&M West Coast, Visalia, Calif.; Church Bros. LLC, Salinas; Ippolito International, Salinas; River Ranch Fresh Foods, Salinas; Taylor Farms California, Salinas; Kern Ridge Growers LLC, Arvin, Calif.; and DiMare Fresh, Visalia.

Allen Lund, La Canada, Calif. delivered the fresh produce to Navidad en el Barrio, a non-profit organization that provides food baskets to more than 20,000 families.
