(Jan. 21) FRESNO, Calif. — Marcy Martin has been promoted from controller of the California Apple Commission to program director.

It is a new position in which Martin will help expand domestic and export marketing programs and monitor apple industry regulations. The controller position has been eliminated, but controller duties will continue to be part of Martin’s job.

“We will look for new export business and be proactive to safeguard the industry,” Martin said.

Basically, the scope of the controller job has been widened, and since Jan. 1 she has had a new title, she said.

Martin has been controller at the commission since 1994. She also is a national member of the U.S. Apple Association’s subcommittee to develop crop insurance.
