(Nov. 12) SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California citrus producers will be assessed 0.025 cents per box of citrus for the 2003-04 season by the Citrus Research Board.

The assessment is up from 0.0235 cents per box last season and will go toward the industry’s research needs, according to Lynn Morgan, branch chief for the marketing branch.

The assessment will apply to all varieties of citrus except limes that are marketed by producers and received by handlers or processors from Nov. 1 through Oct. 31, 2004.

The research board looks into everything from plant management and improvement practices to plant pathology, entomology, exotic pests and post-harvest research.
