Employees of family owned produce businesses have a chance to earn scholarships to attend the 2010 United Fresh Produce Association’s Washington Public Policy Conference.

The Washington, D.C.-based United Fresh is accepting applications for the Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarship Program , according to a news release.

The program gives up to four scholarships annually to employees of family owned United Fresh member businesses for the conference, scheduled for Sept. 14-16 at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center, Washington. The scholarships cover airline, hotel and registration for the event.

Karen Caplan and Jackie Caplan Wiggins established the scholarship program in 2001 in honor of their mother, Frieda, namesake of Frieda’s, Inc., Los Alamitos, Calif.
