(Feb. 24, 11:00 a.m.) The Food Network’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival’s annual Burger Bash was supplemented this year by an Idaho potato side dish contest.

Food Network television show host Rachael Ray hosted the Burger Bash, while the Eagle-based Idaho Potato Commission sponsored the potato Side Dish Challenge at the event Feb. 19 in South Beach, Fla.

Carol Wallack, a chef at Sola Restaurant in Chicago, won the side dish contest with her recipe for her “Sola Idaho potato truffle fries.” Television personality “Mr. Food,” Art Ginsburg, joined Frank Muir, commission president, and Don Odiorne, commision vice president of retail, to judge the conest, according to a news release.

Wallack beat out nine other chefs to win the contest. Her prize was a $5,000 donation to Florida International University made in her name, according to the release.
