(Jan. 6) The head of Florida’s largest citrus grower organization is leaving the trade group and planting a seed in another agricultural field.

Andy LaVigne‘s move to lead the Alexandria, Va.-based American Seed Trade Association marks a return to Washington D.C. for the executive vice president and chief executive officer of Lakeland-based Florida Citrus Mutual.

LaVigne, who announced his resignation Jan. 3, has managed the citrus group since 1998. His last day at Florida Citrus Mutual is scheduled for Feb. 1.

The organization’s directors have scheduled a Jan. 11 meeting for finding a successor. LaVigne said the group will look for an interim manager before conducting a search for a permanent successor.
