(June 6) MONTE VISTA, Colo. — The Colorado Potato Administrative Committee plans to name a new executive director by Aug. 1.

Wayne Thompson, who died June 2, led the committee for 18 years.

The committee’s board began the search process in late May and placed advertisements in national trade publications.

Byron Kunugi, a Blanca, Colo., grower and vice chairman of the board, said applications will be due in early July. A search committee, consisting of executive board members and three area potato growers, will interview applicants throughout July.

Board members and office assistants Elaine Ford and Linda Weyers are handling the executive director duties until the position is filled.
