Chilean kiwifruit growers have banded together under a new umbrella organization.

The Chilean Kiwifruit Committee consists of growers, packers and exporters representing more than 85% of the country’s fresh exports, according to a news release from the Sonoma, Calif.-based Chilean Fresh Fruit Association.

The organization will address topics including production, quality control, pre- and post-harvest standards and promotions.

Ricardo Gonzalez was chosen president of the committee, which was created with support from Chile’s Ministry of Agriculture, the Chilean Exporters Association (ASOEX) and the Chilean Fruit Growers Federation (Fedefruta).
