Giumarra of Wenatchee has added an imported apple and hired a salesman.
The Wenatchee, Wash.-based company, a division of Los Angeles-based The Giumarra Cos., is now importing Divine apples from New Zealand, according to a Giumarra news release.
The Divine, a cross between a golden delicious and a grive rouge, was developed in France and is grown by Heartland Fruit NZ Ltd.
A red-skinned variety, the Divine is crisp and juicy with a sweet, strong flavor. Eventually, an organic version of it will be available in North America.
Also new at Giumarra of Wenatchee, the company has hired a new salesman, Brian Traum.
A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, Traum worked most recently as director of sales and marketing for the Wenatchee-based Saint Laurent Estate Winery.
