(Jan. 10) Nationally, grapefruit supplies could decrease this season, however, California growers anticipate larger harvests than usual.

Citing data from a government report, the California Farm Bureau Federation, Sacramento, predicted the state’s grapefruit crop to be up 13% over last year.

However, production is expected to be down in Florida and Texas, the nation’s main grapefruit-producing states, resulting in a 5% decline nationwide.

Industry analysts say grapefruit prices could rise for fresh and processed markets, as a result.
