Brian Blackwell, owner of Blackwell Farming Co., Bakersfield, Calif., is the new chairman of the board of directors of the Fresno-based Western Pistachio Association, which represents producers from California, Arizona and New Mexico.

Results of the voting were revealed during the association’s annual meeting in Santa Barbara.

The board’s new vice chairman is Jim Zion of Meridian Nut Growers, Clovis, Calif., and Larry Lowder of Alkali Hollow Farms, Madera, Calif. was elected secretary-treasurer, according to a news release said.

Other members of the board are H.P. Corky Anderson, Jeff Curry, Thomas Dille, Larry Easterling, Dr. John Lake, Dr. Robert Lake, Steven Moore, Richard Paslay, George Schweers, Stephen Seplak, Joshua Setton, Gary Smith, Jimi Valov and Brian Watte.
