Brooks, Ore.-based Curry & Co. Inc. continues to expand with the opening of an office in the Southeast U.S.and the hiring of fresh produce industry veteran Mike Harmon as regional marketing manager.

“Mike’s broad range of experiences was exactly what our team was looking for,” Matt Curry, president, said in a news release. ”He has a great passion for the produce industry and business development, and with the launch of our Vidalia Sweet Carrot program and our expanding sweet onion programs he’ll be a great fit.”

In the past four months, Curry & Co.:

  • Added Todd Mauritz as the company’s international grower representative based in South America;
  • Acquired Statesboro, Ga.-based Gerrald's Vidalia Sweet Onion Inc.’s packing facility;
  • Launched the Vidalia Sweet Carrot line; and
  • Hired Mike Klackle as vice president of berry sales.

Harmon, who will be based in Birmingham, Ala., comes to Curry & Co. after nine years with Domex Superfresh Growers, Yakima, Wash.

Previously, he was with Sun Pacific Shippers, Los Angeles; California Day Fresh Foods Inc., Glendora, Calif.; and was vice president of wholesale operations for Chiquita Brands International Inc., Cincinnati.
