Dan’l Mackey Almy, owner and president of Irving, Texas-based DMA Solutions Inc., is scheduled to highlight the advantages of social media in the produce industry at the United Fresh 2011 convention, May 2-5 in New Orleans.

Almy, whose company has helped pioneer social media strategies for the fresh produce industry, and Jan DeLyser, vice president of marketing for the California Avocado Commission, Irvine, are scheduled to present the Social Media for Marketing and Reputation Management workshop on May 3, according to a news release.

On May 5, Almy joins Stacey Larson, president and chief executive officer of OneMediaGroup LLC, Sacramento, Calif., for the Social Media and New Age Technology to Reach Consumers session.

“Companies in the fresh produce industry are curious about the opportunities in and affordability of engaging in consumer marketing and social media,” Almy said in the release. “The communications potential is vast when you consider that all participants in social networks have to eat — and it might as well be fresh.”

In addition to Almy’s appearances, DMA Solutions will have a booth at the Global Conference on Produce Technology and Innovation May 5 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel. The booth will feature DMA Solutions’ new PLUG IN campaign designed for fresh produce companies, according to the release.
