(Jan. 30) For years, Marta Maitles has been a major voice of Dole Fresh Food Co. Inc.

Now, after 13½ years with the Westlake Village, Calif.-based company, Maitles, Dole’s director of communications, is moving on, and outside the produce business.

Maitles, 44, has accepted a communications position with a financial-services company in Southern California, although she declined to identify the company.

Maitles, a native of Encino, Calif., earned a communications degree from California State University-Northridge in 1984.

Maitles’ last day at Dole will be Feb. 3, she said, adding that she will begin her new job in mid-February.

She said Dole had not identified her successor.

Dole, a $4 billion-a-year business taken private by its chairman, David Murdock, in 2003, will continue to be a positive leader for the produce industry, Maitles said.
