(Nov. 6, PACKER WEB EXCLUSIVE) David Murdock, chairman and owner of Dole Food Co. Inc., Westlake Village, Calif., appeared on “The Martha Stewart Show” Nov. 5, speaking about nutrition, health and longevity.

That evening, Stewart presented the first annual Living Award to Murdock. The award was presented at the Martha Stewart Center for Living Gala, which is dedicated to research with the mission of developing clinical models promoting healthy living in the elderly, according to a news release.

Murdock was honored for his commitment to promoting longevity through healthy eating.

Through the Dole Nutrition Institute, Murdock publishes health brochures, cookbooks, videos and the Dole Nutrition Web site, according to the release.

He recently dedicated the David H. Murdock Core Laboratory Building, the UNC Nutrition Research Building and the North Carolina State Fruit and Vegetable Science Institute Building at the North Carolina Research Campus, Kannapolis.
