Southwest fine dining chain Eddie V’s Restaurants Inc. is now using Pro*Act member distributors to source fresh produce.

Eddie V’s 14 units are split between three concepts — Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Roaring Fork and Wildfish Seafood Grille — in Arizona, Texas and California. Using Pro*Act allows the chain to have one point of contact for restaurants in the different markets.

“We have a single point of contact and a great relationship at the corporate level, and in each market we have that same sort of relationship with the local Pro*Act distributor,” John Carver, executive chef and partner at Eddie V’s, said in a news release.

Pro*Act’s distributor members in those three states include Family Tree Produce, Anaheim, Calif.; General Produce Co., Sacramento; Hardie’s Fruit & Vegetable Co., Dallas; Segovia’s Distributing Inc., El Paso, Texas; Potato Specialty Co., Lubbock, Texas; and Stern Produce, Phoenix, according to its website. The network has more than 70 distributor members across the U.S. and Canada.

Eddie V’s restaurants are starting to source more organic and specialty produce, according to the release, and also sources some dairy, eggs, juice and specialty grocery items through Pro*Act.

At least two of Eddie V’s restaurants, in Austin, Texas, and Phoenix, have been recognized as Best New Restaurants by publications in their markets when they opened. Carver was recognized earlier this year by Driscoll Strawberry Associates as Top Berry Chef of the Year.
