A bourbon-laced pie is the winner of the Sixth Annual Michigan’s Best Apple Pie Contest.

Lois Spruytte of Richmond, Mich., won with a pie that features a cup of bourbon and crust cut-outs in the shape of Michigan, according to a news release from the DeWitt-based Michigan Apple Committee, one of five sponsors of the event.

Spruytte received $500 for first place. Runners-up received $250, $100 and assorted prizes. Forty amateur bakers were selected from more than 100 entries to participate in the contest.
