Working to get all eligible kids enrolled in nutrition programs this summer, the No Kid Hungry campaign begins today, March 23.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Kevin Concannon is scheduled to join state officials, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., and anti-hunger advocates to launch the Connecticut No Kid Hungry Campaign, a USDA news release said. The event will be held in Middleton, Conn., the afternoon of March 23.

Only 25% of eligible kids in the state participate in the state’s Summer Food Service Program, the USDA said.

The Connecticut campaign is part of the national No Kid Hungry Campaign to end childhood hunger in America by 2015, the release said. That campaign,, is directed by the national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength, the USDA said.
