The Produce for Better Health Foundation and have joined forces to highlight nutritional school food. is a free website that posts menus and nutritional information for meals served at various school districts. The site plans an updated look and improved navigation when schools are back in session. With help from PBH, the update includes recipes, activities, fruits and vegetables of the month, a section specifically for children and a link to PBH’s website.

Schools are increasing their healthier options, Frank Kohler, publisher and chief executive officer of, said. The problem, however, is actually getting fresh produce despite cost and distribution.

“They are doing their best, and most of them are doing really well,” Kohler said.

Jill Le Brasseur, communications specialist for PBH, said growers can send in recipes for the commodities that will be highlighted each month. Recipes should meet PBH’s products promotable guidelines and have a good quality image.

Companies can also advertise with or sponsor the website, Kohler said. Anyone who is interested can either go when it is up in two weeks, or contact president Craig Kohler directly at or 310-410-1116.
