News Former California fig cooperative executive dies By Don Schrack May 18, 2011 | 12:36 am EDT Comments Print Corbett Memorial services for William Corbett, former president of Valley Fig Growers, Fresno, Calif., are scheduled for Jan. 21. Corbett, a native of Tennessee, died Jan. 6. He was 93. Corbett became president of Valley Fig Growers in 1964, a post he had until his retirement in 1984. During his tenure, the association emerged as the largest fig cooperative in the world. Corbett is survived by his wife, Martha, his daughter, Anne Corbett, and step-children Bonner Sears, Gail Sears, Jeanie Sears and Vikkie Sears-Leonardo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mona. They were married for 48 years. The family requests remembrances be made to Friends of the Library, P.O.
