(July 18) After nearly three decades as a fixture with Delaware-based Dupont Corp., Tim Vaux has launched The Vaux Group, a consulting firm in Fresno, Calif.

With the onslaught of consolidation and other changes in the food industry, some companies require sources to manage special projects, Vaux said.

Vaux, whose last position with Dupont Corp. was director of food industry relations, said one of the benefits of working in management for a large company was that he was trained in many areas.

“I got a vast array of experiences in the U.S. and internationally,” Vaux said. “I can draw on those experiences to help other folks.”

Vaux said his experiences were not limited to chemicals and produce. He has expertise in sales and marketing and a variety of other skills, he said. In the event a client may require consulting outside his skill set, Vaux said he’s building a network of other experts to work with The Vaux Group.

Vaux said he would continue to serve as a member of the United Fresh Produce Association’s board of directors. During an interview with The Packer in 2006, Vaux said he viewed the launching of the Produce Industry Leadership Program as a notable achievement in his career.
