(Aug. 13) Dick Ramsey is the new co-chairman of the board at Mann Packing Co. Inc., Salinas, Calif., following in the footsteps of his father, Bill Ramsey, who joined the company in 1955.

Dick Ramsey will share chairman duties with co-chairwoman Lorri Koster. The company announced the change Aug. 8.

“Bill has long planned to pass the torch to his eldest son on his 75th birthday, which is Aug. 9,” said Mike Jarrard, president and chief executive officer in a news release. “This move allows him to stay involved with the business, but also provides more flexibility in his schedule.”

Ramsey and Koster are third-generation family members at the company; their grandfathers founded W&S Packing, operated it from 1936-67 and later became partners in Mann Packing.

While under Ramsey’s tenure in sales, Mann Packing changed from being largely a broccoli supplier to frozen food companies to the world’s largest shipper of bunch broccoli, according to the release.

“Dick and Lorri are second-generation leadership here at Mann,” Jarrard said in the release. “Their experience in the industry is an essential ingredient to our success.”
