(Aug. 22) WENATCHEE, Wash. — The former general manager for Fresh Products Northwest LLC, a firm that markets Crunch Pak fresh-cut apples, is now the national marketing director for Dovex Marketing Co. LLC, Wenatchee.

Tony Freytag, who will continue marketing Crunch Pak sliced apples, moves to Dovex Marketing, which is owned by Dovex Corp., Kirkland, Wash., and Blue Bird Inc., Peshastin, Wash.

Dovex Corp. also operates Dovex Fruit Co., Wenatchee, and has a stake in Fresh Products Northwest.

The previous marketing director, Skip Johnson, left about five months ago, but the role has changed somewhat, said Mauro Felizia, general manager.

“We expect Tony to be on the road most of the time. The previous position was more in-house,” Felizia.

Freytag said the move was made because of the growth of Crunch Pak, which has just completed a new plant that is more than double the size of the original one. He will now coordinate marketing of fresh and sliced apples, as well as pears and cherries.“It is kind of a natural,” Freytag said. “We were finding similarities within the sliced side and the fresh side, and I found myself getting more and more involved trying to coordinate everything. This is a tremendous opportunity to implement what we are learning on the value-added side to enhance our overall fresh business.

“It made more sense to coordinate more of the marketing with the two companies in terms of long-term planning.”

Freytag said Dovex would be able to load product, both fresh and sliced, at the new facility.

“We are very excited about the coming year,” he said. “We are really just beginning to scratch the surface on the marketing side, and how we want to be involved with our customers.”
