PLACOA offers on-line labelingProduce Labeling & Coding of America (PLACOA), Jackson, N.J., is selling a system that enables companies to label trays without the need for an off-line labeling station.

At any computerized dropoff packing station on a conveyor, the system, the 750 SBL, can label trays, instead of at a dedicated labeling station, eliminating unnecessary transporting within a customer’s own operation, according to a news release.

The company said the system can double a packer’s tray-labeling productivity, allow for labeling during sizing, grading or sorting, and lower the packer’s sustainability footprint.

Compared to the costs of leasing an off-line labeling system, according to the release, a packer might see the return of investment in less than a season.
