Total Quality Logistics is expanding rapidly, and its planned office in Dayton, Ohio, will be its sixth new office opened in 2011.

The Cincinnati-based logistics company has 10 offices spread across the eastern half of the nation, from Chicago in the north, Denver in the west and Tampa, Fla., in the south.

TQL had $762 million in 2010 sales, with projected sales of $900 million this year. It started with two employees, now it has more than 1,300.

“The offices that we have opened to date have done quite well,” said Kerry Byrne, executive vice president, “and we look forward to the opportunity to expand further.”

The Dayton office is expected to open in September and will be the company’s last expansion this year. It will reinforce Ohio as a stronghold for the company, with offices already in Cincinnati and Columbus.

The company expands by relying on current employees to lead new offices and hiring personnel around them.

“We don’t just open an office,” Byrne said. “We’ll seed the office with some of our star players who want to relocate.”
