Graphic Packaging International Inc., Marietta, Ga., plans on introducing two of what it calls “dramatically enhanced” techniques in tagging and labeling at Pack Expo Oct. 5-7 in Las Vegas.

“Retail means detail — that’s why we’ve developed two new tools to give consumer goods manufacturers an important competitive edge in today’s crowded marketplace,” Charles Brignac, marketing manager of business development for Graphic Packaging, said in a release from the company.

Brignac said each of the two new innovations, which will be on full display at Graphic Packaging’s booth at Pack Expo, can greatly enhance the quality of tagging and labeling of products at retail.

The ElastiTag Applicator, developed by Graphic Packaging in collaboration with Beford Industries, Worthington, Minn., allows ElastiTag hangtags to be applied easily, quickly and cost-effectively to any necked bottle, can or container at speeds of up to 450 tags per minute, according to the release. Brignac claims it’s the first machine that can automatically apply ElastiTag hang tags.

The applicator is relatively compact and is designed for quick changeover with minimal retooling and remote troubleshooting, resulting in less downtime.

The other product Graphic Packaging will have on display is the DI-NA-CAL Heat Transfer Label system, which offers see-through label technology for high-impact shelf appeal. It offers variable printing options for short runs, according to the release.

“Consumers are increasingly making their purchase decision in-store, so the new battleground is on-the-shelf and the new weapon of choice is the product package,” Brignac said in the release.
