(March 25) March 27 is the deadline for industry comments on a proposal by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service that would change the U.S. Standards for Grades of Table Grapes.

The change would provide an allowance of 5% for shattered berries in consumer containers.

The proposal is a response to a request for a revision by the Fresno-based California Grape & Tree Fruit League, however the league and the California Table Grape Commission would like to see a tolerance rate of 10%.

Comments may be faxed to 202-720-8871 or submitted online at www.regulations.gov.
