Greatwide Logistics driver Antonio Cooper has been named a Highway Angel, an award from the Truckload Carriers Association that recognizes good deeds.

The Oklahoma City-based driver was returning from a run on Oct. 8 when the car in front of him began swerving — at times into the median, according to a news release from Dallas-based Greatwide.

Cooper pulled his truck alongside the car and sounded his horn, waking the sleeping passenger, who brought the car to a stop. Cooper got of his truck and approached the car to discover that the driver — the passenger’s brother — was having a seizure. Cooper held the driver’s tongue to prevent him from swallowing it, called 911 and waited for paramedics to arrive, according to the release.
