New software could help food distributors and manufacturers be more efficient with their food recall planning and traceability efforts.

WinFDS Version 7 from Food Decision Software, Richmond Hill, Ontario, includes food recall plan worksheets to help customers get a handle on food safety, according to a news release.

The worksheets were included as a result of the company’s food recall plan templates, which are still available for free at

The company created the templates after a survey found that many distributors and manufacturers didn’t have food recall plans in place, according to a news release.

Other features of the new software include remote access, hazardous materials designation and reporting, and alerts and reminders for marking goods for inspection.
