The Audits Benchmarking Matrix is available for inspection.
The Web-based tool allows comparisons of third-party audit organizations and standards most commonly used by the U.S. produce industry, according to a news release from the Washington, D.C.-based United Fresh Produce Association.
The United Fresh Food Safety & Technology Council developed the matrix and published it online here.
David Gombas, United Fresh senior vice president of food safety and technology, said the matrix was developed with input from 16 auditing organizations.
The matrix allows users to select and compare any of eight organizations that conduct Good Agricultural Practices audits, seven that perform Good Manufacturing Practices audits and four groups whose standards have been benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative.
The matrix allows customers to compare the quality systems of these organizations and make informed choices of which audit programs to accept, Gombas said.
