Fresh food procurement company FoodLink Online has a new chief executive officer.

FoodLink Online brings in new CEO

Eric Peters succeeds Vijay Yajnik in the position, as Yajnik transitions to a role as chairman of the board for the Torrance, Calif.-based company.

Peters has been in the supply chain industry for more than 25 years, according to a news release from FoodLink.

He co-founded and served as chief executive officer of TrueDemand Software, a service provider for consumer packaged goods, until the company was acquired by Jacksonville, Fla.-based Acosta in December.

He stayed on board with the newly formed Acosta TrueDemand before transitioning to his position with FoodLink, according to the release.

“FoodLink Online represents an incredible opportunity to really change how the market not only buys and sells perishables, but how the market can manage the flow and protect the integrity of perishable foods,” Peters said in the release. “As the perishable industry continues to grow, we intend to evolve and expand with it by extending our capabilities to ensure efficient, safe and traceable supply chains for our customers.”

Before TrueDemand, Peters was with Manhattan Associates, a New York-based consumer goods solutions provider, as executive vice president of strategy and business development.

He started in supply chain consulting with Tompkins Associates, a specialty supply chain consulting firm, and later moved on to serve as an executive at Accenture and found and lead an affiliate company, Accenture Supply Chain Practice.
