(July 15) FRESNO, Calif. — Hays Container Services is planning for some big changes in the coming months.

Hays PLC, the firm’s London-based parent company, is still looking to sell its logistics division, which includes Hays Container. Jim Vangelos, president and chief executive officer of Hays’ U.S. division, said a final answer is expected as early as August.

Hays PLC announced in March that it planned to sell two of its divisions, including the logistics division, and focus solely on its personnel business.

The company recently sold its Information Management Services division to Iron Mountain Europe Ltd., a joint venture between Iron Mountain Inc., Boston, and Mentmore PLC, London. In a statement regarding that sale, Hays PLC chief executive officer Colin Matthews said that more sales are coming, including the logistics division.

Once that is complete, Vangelos said Hays Container will be ready to roll out several new services this fall. While the details are being finalized for unveiling at the Produce Marketing Association convention in October in Orlando, Fla., Vangelos said the services will be logistical in nature.

“That would open the door to a lot of different things,” he said. “Companies like IFCO and Chep only offer containers, so we’ll be able to really differentiate ourselves.”

The company also will be unveiling a new name at that time.
