Potato growers in Idaho and Malheur County, Ore., have voted to continue their federal marketing order.
Among eligible growers of Irish potatoes in the region, 91% voted to continue the order for another six years, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture news release. Those growers represent 79% of the volume in the area.
If less than two-thirds of growers, or growers representing less than two-thirds of volume, had supported continuation, the USDA would have considered discontinuing the order.
The Idaho/Malheur order establishes minimum grade, size, quality, maturity and pack requirements.
