Rodney McMullen, president of Cincinnati-based Kroger Co., has been named board chairman of GS1 US.
McMullen will serve a two-year term, according to a Dec. 6 news release.
He succeeds J. Alexander Douglas Jr., president of Coca-Cola North America. Douglas served two years and will remain on the board for one more.
Also elected to the board:
- John Hogan, vice president of customer and logistics services for Johnson & Johnson;
- Larry Pulliam, executive vice president of foodservice operations for Sysco; and
- Sanjay Sarma, professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
GS1 US, a nonprofit, addresses supply-chain problems through the use of bar codes, numbering systems and data synchronization.
“GS1 US has been a longtime partner of Kroger,” McMullen said in the release. “I know our work will continue to result in business process improvements that will benefit our customers as well as businesses and customers across many industries.”
