Produce Labeling & Coding of America has introduced a palm-sized printer that can be used in the field to create traceable labels for produce.

The Jackson, N.J.-based company’s device, the S*-MB400i, weighs 2 pounds and comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

It can be handheld, attached by a swivel belt, holster, shoulder strap or portable carrying case.

The printer is compatible with any Produce Traceability Initiative-certified database program, according to the release, and the company offers a service to interface the device with such programs.
