Food safety and traceability will be the focus when the Newark, Del.-based Produce Marketing Association takes its Fresh Connections educational effort to Philadelphia Nov. 30.
The daylong session at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott Hotel, offers information about food safety risks and traceability initiatives, according to a news release. The event also will enable suppliers to connect with regional buyers.
Among those scheduled to speak are Bob Whitaker, the associationâs chief science and technology officer, and Johnna Hepner, director of food safety and technology. They will explain how attendees may increase their food safety efforts and better protect the firmsâ bottom lines. Whitaker and Hepner also will address local sourcing and how growers and terminal markets and other wholesalers may be affected by proposed food safety legislation, the release said.
