(Aug. 17) BEVERLY, Mass. — Sensitech Inc. has acquired the European distribution arm of Ryan Instruments International, which does business as Temperature Data Systems.

While terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition completes Sensitech’s ownership of the Ryan name, which began in 2001 with the purchase of Ryan Instruments, Redmond, Wash. That company essentially became Sensitech’s Redmond office.

However, the terms of that deal did not include Ryan Instruments International, which is based in Holland and was owned by Carel van Oosterzee. As Temperature Data Systems, that company continued to serve as a distributor of Sensitech products in Europe with offices in Holland, Spain, France and Germany.

Dan Vache, vice president of sales for Sensitech’s Redmond office, said the deal basically gives Sensitech a fuller presence in Europe.

Oosterzee will stay with the company as vice president and managing director of Europe, the Mideast and Africa. The rest of the staff of Temperature Data Systems is expected to stay in place as well.

This move represents the latest in a string of acquisitions for Sensitech.

In April, the company acquired Cox Technologies, a manufacturer of temperature and humidity monitoring equipment based in Belmont, N.C. That deal, which was announced in December, was valued at about $10.5 million and included all of Cox's assets except for its Vitsab temperature-sensitive food label product line, which was sold to another company.

Then, in July, Sensitech acquired the shares of Rask Holdings ApS, which does business as Check-It in Hornbaek, Denmark. Terms of that acquisition were not disclosed. Check-It is an independently owned European distributor for Cox Technologies Inc.
