Ocean Mist Farms has completed a successful pilot with the LabelTrac traceability system from TrueTrac.

Castroville, Calif.-based Ocean Mist used the system to create Produce Traceability Initiative-compliant labels, according to a news release from Salinas, Calif.-based TrueTrac.

The system comes with a portable toolbox for use in mobile harvesting operations, and can print and apply labels for cartons of field-packed produce.

“The success of the TrueTrac solution clearly demonstrates that there are innovative cost-effective methods to becoming compliant with the directives of the Produce Traceability Initiative,” Joe DeSante, facility and supply manager for Ocean Mist, said in the release.

“The pilot showed that the TrueTrac system is a viable option. The toolbox was adaptable to our harvesting equipment and field employees were able to rapidly adjust to its use. Spanish language translations and ease of operation of the scanning device was a plus.”
