(Dec. 24, 12:00 p.m.) Vanguard Logistics Services, Atlanta, has partnered with RoadLink Intermodal Logistics, Atlanta, to provide intermodal service, combining ocean services and drayage, supported by new software.

“Vanguard is a global company, and they’re growing dramatically. If you look at how they execute that in North America, you see a very fragmented marketplace and a technology weakness,” said RoadLink chief executive officer Chris Munro. “They had a problem executing from the port to the final customer. We’re now a North America provider and you can plug into our network and tell us where the freight is coming from and we’ll execute the delivery. It’s a very unique value proposition.”

By providing software, called DrayMate, RoadLink has provided Vanguard with end-to-end transparency for both the U.S. and international nonvessel operating common carriers, linking more than 170 global partners, Munro said.

Through this alliance, Vanguard has established a national drayage footprint with a common information technology system. Enabling all domestic and international offices and agents to access a reliable and competitive drayage product allows immediate quotes to customers on core ocean services, Munro said.

“It’s been up and running for about a quarter and is running very well. We’re now to the second generation of the technology,” Munro said, adding that the response has been positive.

This is the first time that RoadLink has entered into a formal relationship with a non-vessel operating common carrier.
