Railinc, an IT and information services provider for the rail industry, has improved the Web tool for its rail freight tracking service.

The Cary, N.C.-based company says customers can use RailSight Online to manage rail equipment and shipment data, according to a news release.

The updated, fee-based service allows owners, shippers and third-party logistics companies to receive real-time equipment and shipment location data.

RailSight Online also is compatible with the Railinc Umler system, the industry’s official registry for rail equipment information, according to the release.

Customers are able to manage their fleets by equipment mark in the Umler system, and fleet changes flow automatically into the RailSight system and update the location.
