An Illinois company is recalling a caramel apple product because it doesn’t have a label warning consumers of nut-allergy risks.
Niles-based Affy Tapple LLC’s “Limited Edition — Classic Candy Flavors” caramel apple two-packs stamped with an Oct. 15 “buy by” date lack the allergen statement “manufactured on shared equipment with peanuts and tree nuts,” according to an Oct. 2 company news release.
A peanut fragment was found on the topping of one apple, according to the release. No illnesses related to the product have been reported.
The product, packed in clear plastic with a brown label, was distributed in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Kentucky.
